Pakistani authorities have lifted the ban on short-length video app TikTok and announced the conditional restoration of the app in the country.

A statement issued by the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA), Pakistan's regulatory body for communications, said the ban on tick talk in Pakistan had been lifted following assurances from the app management that it would Accounts that share 'immoral' and 'obscene' content will be blocked.

The PTA says the TikTok administration will monitor all accounts under Pakistani law.


It may be recalled that on October 9, the PTA had banned Tik Tok after receiving complaints of "immoral content". The agency said in a press release that complaints had been lodged against the content of the app by "various sections of society".

According to the PTA, a final notice was issued to the application keeping in view the content published by the company on Tik Tok and the nature of the complaints in this regard.

The agency said it had given enough time to develop an "effective way" to respond to tik-tok and actively block "illegal online content", but the app did not comply with the instructions. Could not execute.

In this regard, officials said that Tik Tok has been told that the PTA is ready to negotiate and reconsider its decision. For this, however, Tik Tok will have to come up with a satisfactory mechanism against illegal content.
